Kingsford Middle School

Welcome Back Letter

Posted Date: 8/22/25 (12:33 PM)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I extend a warm welcome to you all as we begin the 2025-2026 school year. Having been a teacher, coach, and assistant principal at Kingsford High School for the past eight years, I am honored to now serve as your superintendent. The energy and enthusiasm are already palpable, and I'm eager to work alongside each of you to make this a truly successful and memorable year.

At this time I would like to introduce you to my family. My wife, Emily, teaches French at Kingsford High School, and we have four children, Harrison, Benjamin, Brooks, and Quinn. Our oldest will be attending Kingsford Middle School this year, while our second oldest is at Woodland Elementary. Our two youngest, who are still in daycare, are counting down the days to begin their education at Woodland Elementary. While we are not originally from Kingsford, we have set our roots firmly in Flivver Nation and have loved every moment of raising a family here. This is truly a special community.

What You Can Expect From Me

As we embark on this new chapter, I want to share my personal commitment to you. You can expect me to lead with integrity, honesty, and a commitment to excellence. My goal is to continue the tradition of making Breitung Township Schools the best school district in the Upper Peninsula. I believe a strong educational foundation is built on collaboration, respect, and a shared dedication to student success. I am committed to working with our talented staff to provide innovative and engaging learning experiences, and I will actively seek input from our families and community partners to ensure our schools reflect the values and aspirations of our community.

Looking Ahead

This year, we will be focusing on several key initiatives that will directly benefit our students and our community. These include the renovation of the Woodland Elementary office, which will create a more welcoming, efficient, and safer space for our students and families. We're also prioritizing community outreach to build stronger connections between our schools and local organizations. We'll also be improving communication through the rollout and utilization of ParentSquare, a unified communication platform that will help us streamline all school-home communication, from mass notifications and urgent alerts to classroom messages and forms. Finally, we'll continue to implement co-teaching at Kingsford Middle School and Kingsford High School, ensuring our students receive the personalized support they need to succeed academically.

I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks at various school events. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourselves and share your thoughts and ideas. Together, we can build a brighter future for our students.

Wishing you all a fantastic start to the school year!

Sincerely,

Aaron J. Yonke
Superintendent
